What sets thoughtful pension legal work apart from the ordinary.
Our focus is narrow and our commitment to it is deep. Here is what that means in practice for you.

Pension-Only Focus
Pension law is all we do. Not property conveyancing, not criminal defence, not corporate work. This narrow focus means we have worked through a broad range of pension scenarios and are not learning at your expense.
No Artificial Urgency
We do not manufacture deadlines or pressure. Consultations run as long as they need to. You are always welcome to take time between meetings to think, discuss with family, or seek a second opinion.
Written Summaries as Standard
After every significant consultation, you receive a written note of what was discussed and what the next steps are. You do not need to rely on memory. The note is in plain English — not legal shorthand.
Family Participation Welcomed
Pension and succession discussions often benefit from having a trusted family member present. We actively encourage this and structure consultations so that everyone in the room understands what is being considered.
Telephone Option Available
For clients who find travel difficult, consultations can be conducted by telephone. We take the same care and allow the same time as we would in person. Documents can be sent and reviewed before the call.
Negotiation Before Escalation
We prefer to resolve disputes through correspondence and negotiation wherever this is realistic. Formal proceedings are only recommended after a frank conversation about the likely time, financial cost, and emotional toll involved.
Deep knowledge of the Malaysian pension framework
Our advocates have worked specifically within the Malaysian pension environment — the EPF Act 1991, the Pension Act 1980, the Statutory and Local Authorities Pensions Act 1980, and the contribution enforcement procedures administered by KWSP. This is not generic employment law with pension knowledge bolted on. It is the other way around.
One of our advocates worked within the KWSP enforcement structure before entering private practice, which provides an understanding of how contribution discrepancy cases are assessed from the regulator's perspective — an insight that informs how we frame representations on behalf of clients.
A deliberate, step-by-step approach to every matter
We begin with gathering and reviewing the relevant documents before forming any view. We then discuss findings with the client in full before drafting any correspondence or making any application. Each step is explained before it is taken, and every draft document is shared with the client for comment.
This method takes slightly longer at the outset than an approach that moves quickly to action. In our experience, the time spent at the review and explanation stages reduces the likelihood of misunderstandings later and results in outcomes that clients feel genuinely settled with.
Reliable, straightforward document handling
We use secure document storage systems to keep pension records, employment history documents, and correspondence safely on file throughout the engagement. Copies of all key documents are provided to clients at the conclusion of each stage of work.
Our preference for written communication over verbal updates means there is always a clear record of what has been agreed and what is pending — useful for clients who wish to share progress with family members who were not present at earlier consultations.
A practice designed for older clients
Our office layout, appointment scheduling, and communication style are all shaped by the needs of older Malaysian clients and their families. Appointments are not back-to-back; we allow time between them so that conversations can continue if they need to, and so that clients are never made to feel hurried.
We are available to respond to queries by telephone during office hours, and our documentation is formatted in a larger, more readable typeface wherever this is practical. We are also available to correspond in Bahasa Malaysia for clients who prefer it.
Measured, realistic outcomes — honestly communicated
We are careful about the outcomes we describe as likely. Pension disputes can be slow, and not every shortfall is recoverable in full. Our approach is to give clients an honest assessment of what we think is achievable, what the range of realistic outcomes looks like, and what the process of getting there will involve.
Where a negotiated settlement is available that falls short of the full amount in dispute but avoids a lengthy formal process, we present this option clearly and let the client decide — with our considered view offered alongside the options, not imposed on them.
Clear, transparent fees with no unexpected additions
Our fees are set out clearly in the engagement letter before work begins. We do not bill for phone calls that run over a few minutes, and we do not charge for the time spent explaining documents to clients. Where the scope of a matter changes materially, we discuss the fee implications with you before continuing.
The Pension Entitlement Review — our entry-level engagement — is priced at RM 350, which covers the full document review, a written advisory note, and a follow-up call. There are no hidden disbursements for this service.
A different kind of legal engagement
Not all legal practices approach pension matters in the same way. Here is how our approach differs from what clients have often described experiencing elsewhere.
| What clients look for | Typical practices | Pusaka Adil |
|---|---|---|
| Pension law as a dedicated focus | ||
| Written summary after every consultation | ||

| Telephone consultations available | Rarely | |
| Flat fee for initial review — no hourly billing | ||

Distinctive features of our practice
Multi-language service
We are able to conduct consultations and prepare documents in English and Bahasa Malaysia, and our front-of-house team can assist in Mandarin. Language should never be a barrier to understanding your pension rights.
Central Kuala Lumpur location
Our Bukit Bintang office is accessible via the MRT and LRT networks. The KWSP Kuala Lumpur branch is nearby, which is practical when documents need to be obtained and reviewed in the same visit.
Regulator-side experience
Having an advocate with direct experience of KWSP enforcement procedures means we understand how regulators assess cases. This shapes how we prepare our clients' documentation and correspondence.
No commitment at first consultation
The initial conversation is genuinely exploratory. We will tell you frankly if we do not think we can help, or if the matter falls outside the scope of what we do. There is no pressure to engage us after a first meeting.
A track record built steadily over time
Malaysian Bar Council Member
All advocates hold current practising certificates and are subject to the full professional conduct framework of the Malaysian Bar.
