Our Company

A practice rooted in patience, principle, and care for older Malaysians.

Pusaka Adil was established to address a gap that many retirees experience — competent, unhurried legal guidance on pension matters, delivered with dignity.

Our Story

Founded on a conversation that should have happened sooner

Pusaka Adil grew out of a pattern its founding advocates observed repeatedly in their earlier careers at larger commercial firms: elderly clients and their families arriving with pension problems that had been allowed to drift for years, sometimes decades, because no one had taken the time to sit with them and explain what their rights actually were.

The name — Pusaka Adil, meaning "fair inheritance" — reflects the conviction that retirement assets built through a lifetime of work deserve the same careful legal attention as any other form of wealth. A modest EPF balance or a civil service pension is, for many families, the single most significant financial resource they hold. It warrants serious, respectful treatment.

The practice was established in Bukit Bintang to be accessible by public transport and within reach of the older residential communities across central Kuala Lumpur. We have worked with retirees from a wide range of occupational backgrounds — former teachers, nurses, factory supervisors, and government officers — and with their adult children navigating estate matters after a parent has passed.

Our approach has not changed since the beginning. We take the time to understand your situation before we offer any view. We explain what we find in straightforward terms. We do not file anything you have not understood and agreed to. And we keep you informed at every stage.

Our Mission

To ensure that every Malaysian retiree and pre-retiree has access to clear, competent legal guidance on their pension entitlements — delivered without pressure, without jargon, and without unnecessary delay.

Our Values

  • Patience: We work at the client's pace, not ours.
  • Clarity: Every finding is explained in plain language before any action is taken.
  • Respect: Pension matters often touch on deeply personal circumstances. We treat every client with dignity.
  • Honesty: We give frank assessments of what is realistic, not what clients might wish to hear.
  • Proportionality: We recommend the least burdensome path to a satisfactory outcome.
The Team

The people you will work with

A small, experienced team where every client works directly with a qualified advocate — not a paralegal or junior assistant.

RA

Rashidah Ahmad

Principal Advocate & Solicitor

Called to the Malaysian Bar with over eighteen years of practice, Rashidah specialises in employment-related pension disputes and estate succession matters. She established Pusaka Adil to focus on work she found most meaningful.

FI

Farouk Ibrahim

Advocate & Solicitor

Farouk's background includes several years at the KWSP enforcement division before entering private practice. This gives him a practical understanding of how contribution discrepancy cases are assessed from the regulator's side.

LM

Lim Mei Yee

Client Relations & Documentation

Mei Yee coordinates client appointments and manages the gathering of pension documents and records. She is usually the first point of contact and is available to answer straightforward queries in English, Mandarin, and Malay.

Standards & Protocols

How we maintain the quality of our work

Malaysian Bar Council Compliance

All advocates at Pusaka Adil hold current practising certificates issued by the Malaysian Bar Council and observe the Legal Profession Act 1976 and its subsidiary regulations without exception.

Client Confidentiality

All client information is handled under strict solicitor-client privilege. Documents are stored securely, access is restricted to the advocates working on your matter, and no information is shared without your written consent.

Written Engagement Letters

Every engagement is formalised in a plain-language letter setting out the scope of work, the fee, and the expected timeline. Nothing proceeds until this letter has been read, understood, and signed by the client.

Continuing Professional Development

Our advocates complete the Malaysian Bar's annual CPD requirements and attend specialist programmes on pension law, estate planning, and consumer protection relevant to older clients.

Regular Client Updates

We commit to keeping every client informed at each stage of their matter. If circumstances change or the timeline shifts, we contact you before any action is taken — not after.

Professional Indemnity Insurance

The firm maintains professional indemnity insurance as required under Malaysian Bar Council regulations, providing an additional layer of protection for clients in the unlikely event of a professional error.

Pension law expertise grounded in the Malaysian context

Malaysia's pension landscape is shaped by a combination of the Employees Provident Fund Act 1991, the Pension Act 1980 (for federal civil servants), and a range of employment-specific schemes administered by statutory bodies and private fund trustees. Navigating these frameworks requires familiarity not just with the legislation but with the practical procedures of KWSP, Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan), and the Public Services Department.

Pusaka Adil has built its practice specifically within this landscape. We do not offer general legal services; pension protection is the focus of our work, which means that when a client brings a contribution shortfall query or a dispute over a civil service pension, we are not learning the relevant law from scratch — we have worked through similar matters before and can offer a considered view relatively quickly.

Our location in Bukit Bintang places us within a short distance of the KWSP Kuala Lumpur branch and accessible to clients travelling from Chow Kit, Ampang, Petaling Jaya, and surrounding areas. We make every effort to accommodate clients whose mobility or schedule makes it difficult to visit during standard office hours.
